Emsworth once had a thriving oyster fishing industry, and many fishing boats.  It is now better known as a leisure harbour with a flourishing sailing club.  The ribs of one of the original boats that traded here in the oyster fleet can still be seen lying in the mud at low tide below the tower of Langstone Mill.  It can be seen in the image of Langstone Mill below.

Langstone Harbour seen from the foreshore near Hayling bridge.  The Mill & the Royal Oak public house can be seen in the distance, in the middle distance, an ancient trackway can be seen at low tide, built to connect Havant and Hayling Island.

This view is in pencil and shows the view of Langstone Mill at low tide from outside the Royal Oak public house.  John Lennon once considered buying the Mill, as then, one of his old school friends owned a supermarket on Hayling Island.

King Canute's daughter is buried in Bosham Church, and it is thought that it was here that the King tried to command the waters to recede to show his powers.
